Discovery or a Return to the Roots

Nowadays, in the age of generative AI and high-speed lifestyles and workdays, we need to slow down, take a step back, breathe, relax, enjoy ourselves, be creative and flourish.

Analogue photography perfectly meets this need. It also allows for better analysis of the subject being photographed in order to prioritise a reasonable and well-considered shutter release (in digital photography).

Analogue and Digital

Digital photography is the technical evolution of analog photography. Images are now recorded on a sensor, but the essential steps remain the same: capturing the shot, developing, printing on paper, digitizing, archiving, and documenting. These processes serve many purposes: artistic, documentary, journalistic, informative, creative, personal, public, or commercial.

In summary, the production flows are essentially the same and can be transferred from film to digital (and vice versa). However, film photography allows you to slowly, thoughtfully and calmly preview the final photograph (printed on paper) based on a more detailed exposure choice, refined framing, etc. before taking the shot.

This provides a more robust artistic and technical foundation for digital photography. In line with the transition from analogue to digital, there is also a wider range of printing paper available (texture, weight, size, type and tone).

My Workshop

The aim of these workshops is to pass on my expertise and experience to everyone: enthusiasts, amateurs and professionals alike. But also to share moments of relaxation, conviviality and creativity.

First, we will look at film photography. The sessions will allow you to take your first steps or deepen your knowledge, master the equipment and build a solid foundation, whether in film or digital photography.

As I have already mentioned, you will see that the production flows are very similar. You will then notice that your digital practice will become more fluid, more creative and enriched with a different perspective. You may want to continue shooting with film before digitising your photographs and then finalising your project...

You will then be able to develop your photographic personality and your own creative process — your unique "recipe", the fruit of your experience.

Are you tempted?
Then grab your cameras and your film! And if you want to be updated about the next workshop session, contact me.
