The great Automn crossing

A photographic exhibition by Jehan Lérin

The great Autumn crossing is a 37-day adventure partly inspired by the renowned book by French mountaineer Maurice Herzog, Annapurna : The First 8000. For several days, it follows in the footsteps of the historic French Alpine Club expedition, paying tribute to their legendary journey.

This exceptional trek crosses mountain passes ranging from 5,150 to 5,500 meters in altitude, leading through wild and majestic landscapes. It begins in the remote and intimate Great Manaslu Circuit, continues along the magnificent Great Annapurna Circuit via the breathtaking Tilicho Lake, and concludes with a round-trip to the iconic Annapurna Base Camp.

A journey of striking contrasts — authenticity and archaism, isolation and spirituality, modernity and mass tourism — it is a true invitation to meditative walking and personal introspection.

The adventure ends in Pokhara, its arrival symbolically aligning with the end of Nepal’s civil war in December 2006.
