Named after King Tribhuvan, who reigned from 1911 to 1955 and whose reputation extends far beyond the country’s borders, the museum displays his personal belongings: his collection of coins and stamps, his poems and manuscripts, his boxing gloves and walking stick, his royal garments and hunting trophies, as well as statues and carved woodwork.

Located in a wing of Hanuman Dhoka Palace, itself in the heart of the capital at Durbar Square (the Royal Square), the museum was opened to the public in the early 2010s. Unfortunately, the site suffered significant damage during the 2015 earthquake.

In its inner courtyard, the magnificent white façade contrasts with the almost invisible presence of a young woman at her window.
