Air pollution is pervasive, and wearing a mask is sometimes necessary to protect one’s health. However, measures have been implemented to improve air quality in the Kathmandu Valley.
Public transport has adapted, with buses and trams now running on electricity, weaving through the “concrete teeth,” remnants of the roadblocks from the civil war.
